Day 3....and 1st attempt at running outside

So I'm still a little sore......but I wanted to get some running/walking in so I decided to venture outside.  I put my Ipod on and started my C25K app.  First five minutes is walking.  No problem.  Then the running starts.  One minute of running, 90 of walking. Repeat 9 times.  WOW.  Running outside is MUCH harder than the treadmill.  I made it through 7 repetitions and headed home.  I was dead tired.  So I went 2 miles tonight....I'd still like to get in another mile so I might go down to my treadmill yet tonight.  We'll see.

As I'm running outside I'm thinking to myself......13.1 miles, really?  Can I do this?  Then I thought to myself.....you have to start somewhere.  No one said it was going to be easy.  What fun would it be if it was easy?  So I made it through my first outside run......I know the beginners class that I take at ASR will help a lot too.  Until then.......I'll just keep chugging along.  One day at a time....one mile at a time.

Happy Running......and walking.

  1. That's exacly I how felt 5 months ago Tina. When I started running on the treadmill in Nov, my fastest mph was 4mph (15 minute mile). I remember my friend telling me that "it won't be long and your normal mph will be 5mph (12 mm) and then 6mph (10 mm)". She was right ... today my warm-up is at 5 mph and I'm doing cardio sprints at 7mph. Keep at it! I know it's difficult; but remember this ... if it was easy wouldn't everyone do it? Love ya!

  2. I'm three weeks away from my first half marathon. I am still thinking "really? are you nuts?" My foot hurts, my back hurts, my knee hurts. Blah blah blah. Then I think "holy crap I'm going to run `13.1 miles on May 7." I was a month or two before I even attempted running when I started. Your trainer will tell you speed doesn't matter. Doing it does. Linda wants info on this. I think she is interested, but I'm not sure if I sent it along. Could one of you smart ladies handle it? Thanks. Also, Tammy wants in this. She is not on Facebook. How does it work and how do I get her to join the Sarasota Bound Blog? Keep it up Tina. You too sis. Luv ya both

  3. I'm so excited for you Rog...I can't wait to hear how the half marathon goes!

    I'll send info to Linda.

Send this link to Tammy. http://sarasotabound.blogspot.com/
I think she can just create a google account and then follow it. Or really, if she just clicks on the link, she can read it too.

I'm headed downstairs to walk tonight....I might ride my bike. We'll see.

I'm so excited about this. And it's so cool we get to all do this together! Love ya!
