Flights are booked!

We booked our flights today. Milwaukee to Sarasota. March 8 - 12th. $257.  No backing out now!

Friday we are running 8 miles. Yikes!

Do you eat anything on your long runs? Gels or anything? On our 6.5 mile run I felt wiped out towards the end.  I'm going to try a few different supplements and see if that helps.

  1. Holy crap ladies. 8 miles!! Don't peak too early. Tammy is at around 5 now and following her schedule. I am not moving yet and am turning into a big toad. Lol. Hopefully by end of next week I am in a brace so I can begin running. We booked our flight yesterday too. We are going Tuesday March 6 to Tuesday march 13. Our cost was $493 for the two of us out of Milwaukee. I am psyched. Just gotta get going. As for nutrition, I eat something every 25-30 minutes in my runs. My hamstrings thank me everytime I get something in my system. It sounds crazy but it completely rejuvinates me. I put a mango elixir in my drink, eat shot blocks, eat gu energy gels. The real runners tell me to energize eveery 30 minutes. I do it a little bit sooner. But once you play around with it a few times, you will be able to tell. Tammy has practically nothing. The gels make her gag. She has had the blocks, but is not too crazy about them. But I have convinced her to put in an elixir with her water. Instant electro lytes. Hope this helps. I am so proud and happy for you ladies. If I don't get going, I am running with you in Florida.

  2. Thanks for the info about eating something during your run. I do think it will help. We'll just have to figure out what works for each of us.

    We won't peak too early. This week is 8....but next week is 3. It's a 17 week program and we're right on track for the race.

    Hopefully you'll be back at running soon....or at least walking. I always say....I may be slow....but I'm moving. :)
