First Workout Complete

I just spent 48 minutes on my treadmill.  Ran/Walked the equivalent of a 5K.  Ran/Walked every 1/4 mile for the first 1.5 miles and then ran a minute, walked for 90 seconds and repeated that until I hit 3.1 miles.  I feel pretty good.  LOVE, LOVE my new shoes.

Thanks to Rog for sending me down to All Season Runner.  What a great place.  Tons of help.  They got me all set up with new shoes, socks and a sports bra.  I'm signed up for their beginners running class.  It starts in May.  I'm really looking forward to learning the "correct" way to run.  Running on the treadmill is one thing....but learning to set my own pace outside is a whole new concept to me.  So I can't wait for that program to start!  In the mean time I'll work on my running/walking on my treadmill in my basement.

I'm guessing I'll be sore tomorrow.....we'll see.  Tomorrow I plan to walk.....I'm thinking I'll run every other day for now.  Happy running!

  1. Hi Tina. Can a cousin tell you how proud I am of you for doing this. Simply awesome. I read your posts and think wow that was me a couple of years ago. Actually, I couldn't walk two miles when I started. My legs were so sore after those first walks. But I progressed just like you are. Jog, walk, jog walk....
I know its looking way aheaf, but let me know when you start looking at flights. Tammy and I are both running in it and it would be fun to go as a group, I think. I think I will start looking for places on the beach for that time frame. Happy running. I went about 6 miles today. I should be doing around ten on sundays but I hurt my back last week. We are running the Lake Geneva Half on May 7th. Our first.

  2. Thanks for the words of encouragement Rog!

I'm looking forward to meeting Tammy. We'll have to find out what Linda's plan is and where she plans to stay. I'll be coming by myself as Rob won't have vacation time at work. So yes, traveling down together is a great idea!!

Hope your back starts to feel better! Hopefully I can make it to the May 7th half marathon and cheer you guys on! I'd love to check it out.

  3. Rog - What the hell is this about staying on the beach? I'm only a 10 minute drive from the beach and you dont' have to pay for a hotel. You hadn't even be thinking of staying anywhere but here. Oh wait ... I forgot you're a Fanning which means your're loaded :0) Tina - I too am inspired by you. Keep it up and I look forward to my daily blog reading of your success.
